"What is Jacquard Webbing"

Jacquard webbing is a type of textile characterized by its intricate and decorative designs, woven directly into the fabric using a special loom known as the Jacquard loom. This versatile and highly durable material finds extensive use in a wide range of applications, from fashion accessories to home furnishings.

This webbing technique’s origin can be traced back to Joseph Marie Jacquard’s invention in the early 19th century. His innovative loom revolutionized the weaving process, allowing for complex patterns to be automated – a major step forward in textile manufacturing.

At its core, Jacquard webbing offers unmatched design flexibility. The patterns aren’t embroidered or printed on the surface, but are woven into the very fabric, resulting in designs that are as long-lasting as the material itself.

Whether it’s vibrant patterns for stylish belts or subtle designs for furniture trims, the precision and creativity that the Jacquard weaving process offers is truly unparalleled.

Harness the power of Jacquard webbing – blend functionality and aesthetics like never before.

* Available Materials*

The selection of material heavily depends on the application of the webbing, cost, durability, and the aesthetic appeal desired.

1

Nylon

Known for its excellent durability and strength, Nylon is often used for heavy-duty applications such as pet leashes, harnesses, or luggage straps.

2

Polyester

Polyester is resistant to water and UV damage, which makes it a great choice for outdoor applications, including lawn furniture, marine, and camping equipment.

3

Cotton

Cotton offers a softer feel and is more breathable, making it suitable for apparel and accessory applications, such as belts and handbag straps.

4

Rayon

This is a semi-synthetic material that offers a high sheen and bright color characteristics. It is often used for more decorative or ornamental applications.

5

Polypropylene

It is lighter, less expensive and resistant to water, mildew, and UV rays, which makes it suitable for many outdoor uses.

* Available Elastic Webbing Size

*Please note that the material used in the elastic webbing (like nylon, polyester, cotton, or polypropylene) will have a significant effect on all of these parameters.

length

General Range: as per your request

{For custom applications, we may cut the elastic webbing to any specific length required by the customer. The length of elastic webbing can be almost any value depending on the requirements of the project it’s being used for.}

Width

Range: 3mm—150mm

{The width can range from as narrow as 1/8 inch (3mm) for lightweight applications up to 6 inches (150mm) or more for heavy-duty applications.}

Thickness

General Range: 0.5mm—3mm

{Elastic webbing thickness is typically measured in millimeters, ranging from about 0.5mm for very thin webbing to 3mm or more for thicker, more durable varieties.}

Stretch Ratio

Range: 1:3

{The stretch ratio can vary greatly. Some elastic webbing may only stretch an additional 50% of its original length (1:1.5 stretch ratio), while others can stretch to 2 or 3 times their original length (1:2 or 1:3 stretch ratio). Very stretchy materials like certain types of spandex can have even higher stretch ratios.}

Tensile strength

Range: 4.5kg—450kg

{Tensile strength for elastic webbing can range from less than 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms) for lightweight webbing up to 1000 pounds (450 kilograms) or more for heavy-duty industrial-grade webbing.}

* Weaving Style

1.Plain Weave

Also known as a tabby weave, this is the simplest and most common method. It involves the weft (horizontal) thread going over one warp (vertical) thread, then under the next, and so on. This produces a strong and durable webbing, but it is not as visually intricate as other weaves.

2.Twill Weave

In this technique, the weft thread goes over one or more warp threads and then under two or more warp threads. This results in a distinctive diagonal pattern. Twill weave is known for its strength and durability and is commonly used in heavy-duty applications.

3.Satin Weave

This method involves the weft thread floating over several warp threads and then going under one warp thread. This results in a smooth and glossy surface that’s more delicate and less durable than other weaves. Satin weave is often used for decorative purposes.

4.Jacquard Weave

This is a subset of Jacquard weaving techniques and involves alternating areas of satin and sateen weaves. This creates a pattern that can be seen due to the contrasting luster of the different weaves. Damask weave is used for more complex and detailed designs.

*Applications

“Suitable for shoulder bag, phone strap, shoes,watchband, sport headband applications. “

*Surface Treatments

The selection of the surface treatment technique would depend on the intended use of the Jacquard webbing, the materials it's made from, and the specific aesthetic or functional qualities you want it to have.

Dyeing

This process can be done before weaving (yarn dyeing) or after weaving (piece dyeing). It is used to give the webbing its color and can be done in virtually any color or combination of colors.

Printing

Printing allows for more intricate designs and patterns to be added onto the surface of the webbing after it has been woven. This can include logos, branding, or detailed graphics.

Heat Setting

This process involves applying heat to the webbing to set the weave and reduce shrinkage. It can also help to improve the smoothness and luster of the webbing.

Waxing or Coating

Webbing can be waxed or coated to enhance its resistance to water, UV, or abrasion. This can be particularly important for webbing that will be used in harsh or outdoor environments.

Brushing or Sueding

These processes can be used to give the webbing a softer, more velvety feel.

Sanforizing

This is a pre-shrinking fabric process that limits the residual or further shrinkage of the fabric to less than 1%.
